I'm not sure why I didn't enjoy this book so much the first time around. This time I enjoyed it immensely. It has a different pace to 'The Passage', faster with more action. I'm not sure I could really reconcile loopy Lila with the Lila from 'before' but then I am no psychologist. Also, I feel the author should stay well clear of describing a woman's feelings when she is pregnant, this is not his forte! Still, it doesn't really detract from the story as a whole and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all finishes.
